Hi Margaret, i'm sorry that you find it expensive. I would like to explain to you on the process of my cakes. Everything is home baked & hand crafted. The peach topper was hand crafted with fondant and hand painted with pink edible dust. There is no mold involved. It was then kept in air-conditioned room at least 24 hours to make sure it dries hard. Meanwhile, cakes and cupcakes were baked in the early morning of the day to make sure they are fresh to be eaten at night. Buttercreams are also home made and there is no commercial ingredients involved. Cakes are measured to be stacked safely before we deliver. There are many cheaper alternatives offered by other bakers / bakeries and what differs from each other was the ingredients used. Eg. Rm8 butter gives a different texture and flavour compared to Rm3 butter / shortening / vege oil. All cakes and cookies can be baked with just the cheapest vege oil in the market. Which ingredient that the baker choose to use will be calculated towards the final pricing. I buy my ingredients once a week as they runs out very fast and i don't have shops / commercial fridge to store bulk purchase. So i shall say all my ingredients are very very fresh. I know there are some bakers that leave the baking step to their maid & only involve in the decoration step. I do not have any helper & all are done by myself. Many times, the baking & deco steps cost more than the ingredients. When certain commercial ingredients are used, it can skip some baking steps without altering the cake flavour & texture. I hope this explains well and hope you can understand the whole process. Of course i don't expect customers to know how we do the whole process and we are always here to educate customers so that they can understand the pricing difference. I always update with other homebakers on the pricing part and mine is in the medium range.

I have recently ordered a cake for my husband’s 60th birthday through the-flour-chemistry. Everyone of us had enjoyed the cake very much that night, not forgetting a superb design of the cake too! I have no hesitation and to go back to Sam should I require any cakes in the future. Strongly recommended.

The responses were quick although some of them were received 2-3 days later which by then I have already placed my order.
