The need for a renovation on this 43-year-old double-storey terraced house was that my elderly father has lost his ability to walk up and down the stairs independently due to a stroke.
He is on wheelchair now, and I leave no choice to convert my father’s original living space from upstairs to downstairs.
The project mainly includes ...
1. Transfer the originally designated kitchen at downstairs to a backup space located at the back of the house (which is currently vacant). In order to free up the space of the originally designated kitchen and guest toilet as my father’s bedroom with attached bathroom and toilet, that ideally will set up in accordance with the standards of the disabled elderly that meets his daily living requirements. Including ...
1a) Strengthen the air tightness of the original doors and windows of the original kitchen to more effectively control and ensure the room temperature, and effectively save the cost of air conditioning in the long term. And add anti-mosquito door screens, window screens and curtain hanging rails.
1b) In the original kitchen, a three-foot-wide traditional wooden sliding door is to be demolish and replace by a four-foot-wide glass swing door.
