We are incredibly pleased and honoured to announce that The Recommend Group has served 1 million homes! This is a significant milestone that includes all customers across our operations in Malaysia (as Recommend.my) and Indonesia (as Sejasa.com).
It also happens to be the 7th year of our company. It’s hard to believe that, when Jes Min and I launched the first version of the platform in mid 2014, with Anthony coming on board in 2015, that it would have this sort of reach and impact. It’s all thanks to you, and we feel truly humbled and blessed to be part of it.
Since those early days, we now have 70+ employees across Malaysia and Indonesia, and our platform powers the home improvement and home maintenance service offerings for Grab Indonesia (under Clean & Fix), Boost, Mah Sing Group, IKEA Malaysia, Allianz Malaysia and more!
Everything you need for your home
Over 1.3m people visit our platform every month, looking to book home cleaning or aircon servicing, hire plumbers, electricians and handymen, or get price quotes for large projects like renovation and interior design. This year, we also added foot reflexology, massage and personal grooming services that anyone can order to their home.
We receive over USD10 million worth of job requests every month, and these jobs help to sustain the livelihoods of over 40,000 skilled home service professionals on our platform.
This has been especially important over the last 15 months as numerous lockdowns and movement restrictions were announced in Malaysia and Indonesia. As homeowners worked from home, our platform was inundated with urgent requests to fix leaks and clogs, solve power trips, repair home appliances, and clean homes while parents were busy with the kids.

Some examples of innovations we’ve added over the years:
- We fixed the prices on home cleaning and maintenance services. This ensures that customer know exactly what they are getting, and also enjoy project insurance and service guarantees
- We added appointment scheduling and worker location tracking so customers know if a pro is on their way
- We improved the way we rank our pros. Apart from customer reviews, our system evaluates other trust signals including time-to-respond and quality of quotes so customers always see the most suitable pros
But much more still needs to be done. The pandemic has completely changed how we live, work and play, and the home has become an even more central part of our lives. So it’s even more important that we continue to improve our services to our customers, our local communities, and our pros.
