We Found The Sweetest Nursery Makeover in This KLCC Condo

When Mariam was pregnant with twins (and constantly away from home), setting up her baby room was low on her to-do list. And when the babies arrived five weeks early, any thoughts of a room makeover went out the window.

But after the kids turned two, Mariam decided it was time for a change. So she asked Valarie from Bonnieblue Furniture & Interiors (a highly-recommended interior designer on Recommend.my) to carry out her nursery makeover.

And the results are just perfect. Take a look.

“When my twins arrived 5 weeks early, I quickly bought two cribs and two drawer sets from Mothercare as a temporary setup. After they turned two and outgrew their cribs, I decided it was time for a change.”

“I found Valarie from Bonnieblue when she posted her restored wood furniture in a Facebook Group. I sent her some photos and dimensions of my room, and let her run with it.”

But when she got the job, Valarie was a little nervous. “I realised it wasn’t a straightforward one-gender kid’s room. This was a set of twins, one boy and one girl.”

As Mariam explained:

“I wanted a room that was pleasant and inviting. Full of attractive things for the children as well as pleasing to my eye. I prefer a warm inviting and comfortable environment. Nothing too modern or cold feeling. I wanted wood, textures and toys. No florals.”

To meet this request, Valarie decided to add stripes to one side of the wall. It was neutral enough for both genders and yet it would make a big statement impact in the room.

And in just four days, she and her team completely transformed the room.

Valarie explains on her blog, “though there are many colours in the room, everything came together. It doesn’t feel overwhelming because most of the large visual areas like the curtains, walls, cabinet, furnitures were in soft pastel, whites and offwhites. The strong solid colours came from the lamps, candles, and monograms.”

She also added a chest of drawers to one side of the room, with a collage of “Dolls & Planes” photos above it.

“The theme was inspired by the vintage aeroplane that the twins’ father bought. We also covered the lampshade with this lovely red patterned fabric. The black strip around the lampshades really notch it up to the next level. It gives the room so much added interest.”

The client could not have been happier:

“I love the curtains, carpet and lamps. I love that there are so many different colours and textures but they all play well together without being overly feminine or masculine. I love walking in the room now.”

“What made me hire Valarie? I just went with my gut. From her furniture pieces, I had the confidence she would turn the room into a gem. I did not know I was her first full renovation project”

“She truly has a gift and a passion. She delivers more than she promises., and cares that you are happy. She is creative and fast in her delivery. And her ideas and supply sourcing are amazing. I would recommend this company highly to anyone.”
